Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- kids
- calendar
- ideas
- time
- patience
Step1
The first thing you need to do is discuss your child's feelings. Make sure that they are just bummed that summer is over and not upset over something else. Then remind them of all the fun things that school has to offer, such as: friends, activities, sports or anything your child may be interested in.
Step2
Give your child a calendar and let them mark on certain days things they would like to do that remind them of summer. Maybe let them go to an indoor pool once a month or invite friends over for a sleep over and camp out in the yard if its not too cool. There are many ideas that you can think of that will give your child something to look forward to as school starts.
Step3
Get your child involved in the back to school shopping. This can be another great way of beating those back to school blues. Let them pick out their school supplies as well as school clothes so it will make them excited about going back to school.

on 7/9/2008 Excellent article! When my son started Kindergarten he was anxious to go but that QUICKLY faded. Now that we homeschool we don't have to worry about that part as much. These are great tips!
