Here are some ideas for where to shop to get bargains on Back-to-School items.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Money
  • List or idea of what supplies are needed
  1. Step 1

Try the local department or office supply stores first when they have items on sale for super low prices around the time the kids are going back to school. Some examples are K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Target, Office Depot, Shopko--if there is one in the state, or whatever other local store that offers extreme discount pricing on the items. To avoid crowds try days earlier in the week before 11 AM or overnight hours if it is safe to do so.

  2. Step 2

For items not on sale at these places, try dollar stores--especially the ones where $1.00 is the highest price. Locally, there is Dollar Tree, but there may be others in other parts of the country.

  3. Step 3

Try Goodwill or any other thrift store--there might be barely used or cheap new items there.

  4. Step 4

Another good place may be someone's rummage sale. There might be good used binders or books for the kids to read for book reports, for example, on sale at these.

  5. Step 5

If any stores are going out of business in the area and they have traditionally sold school supplies, check out their sales. They may have some supplies available at a huge discount.

  6. Step 6

Get a state permit to buy items at cost that a person might have to pay only sales tax, possibly shipping, on in addition to its low cost. There are a surprising amount of dealers online that sell closeout super cheap items online.
