Making your own hummus is simple.

Hummus, a Middle Eastern dip made with chickpeas, goes great with flatbreads and baked breads. To make your own at home, you need only a few ingredients and a couple of minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 1 15-ounce can garbanzo beans or chickpeas, drained and dried
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon pesto sauce
  • Blender or food processor

Instructions

      Put the garbanzo beans (or chickpeas), mayonnaise, lemon juice and pesto sauce into the blender or food processor.

      Blend until the mixture has a thick consistency. Transfer to a bowl.

      Serve as appetizer or refrigerate.

Tips & Warnings

  • This dip tastes great with crackers and baked breads, such as garlic bread and flatbread.

  • Add olive oil, cumin and/or tahini to increase the flavor of the hummus.
