  • Computer and internet
Step1
First decide if you are willing to trade performance for gas-saving cars. Many cars that are easy on gas are 4 cylinders, hybrids, or run on bio diesel. You may not get the same acceleration and torque, but you will be laughing at trucks and V-8s at the gas station.
Step2
Consumerreports.org is the best way to find unbiased car information. ALL cars, both new and used, show gas mileage for neighborhood and highway performance.
Step3
Best used cars for gas mileage include the Honda Insight, Toyota Prius, Toyota Echo, Chevy Prism, Mazda Protege LX, Toyota Corolla CE/LE, Acura Integra LS, Scion xA, Honda Hybrids, Honda Fit Sport, Toyota Yaris, Scion xB, Mazda3 i, Mini Coopers, Nissan Altima Hybrid, Hyuandai Accent GS, Kia Rio5 SX.
