How to use Pivot table/Chart in Excel

Things You'll Need:

  • Excel Program
  • More than 2 criteria of Data
  1. Step 1

    To create a PivotTable, place your cursor inside the data area , and then start the PivotTable wizard from the data menu. First, you need to let the wizard know where to obtain the data that you would like in your table, and this will also give you the option of whether or not you would like the chart or table.

  2. Step 2

    Once the initial quick table is set-up, you will need to drag and drop information into the table.(Do this by opening your informarion in a seperate window, click and hold, then drag the information to the PivotTable)

  3. Step 3

    Next, you want to auto format the table. Do so by clicking the "format" tab at the top and selecting "auto format". You will have over 20 formats to choose from, pick the one that best fits your needs.

  4. Step 4

    Pivoting the data is essentially what it's all about. It modifies the information in order to be analyzed in different ways, giving you different outcomes. You "Pivot" the information by dragging and dropping the information into a different location on the table.

  5. Step 5

    When choosing the chart options, you again simply drag and drop the information onto the chart.It is the options that you use that changes the look of the chart.
