Gas prices now are astronomical. Is the recession hurting you? Want to save some money on gas? Well here are some easy tips on saving gas and money.

  1. Step 1

    Budget: Make up a budget. To keep track of your spendings and when you fill up the car.

  2. Step 2

    Plan Trips: Plan ahead what places and the distance you must travel. So you can plan short cuts.

  3. Step 3

    Use Air Conditioner: If your traveling over 45 mph use air conditioner. Traveling under 45 mph roll down the windows. When the window are lowered it makes resistance which slows the car down. So it reduce your gas mileage.

  4. Step 4

    Brake early: Avoid quick stopping. Try easing your way to the lights or stop signs so not to apply the brake.

  5. Step 5

    Drive speed limit: Drive the posted speed limit. This is good for two things saves you a ticket and you dont waste gas. Speeding just burns up gas faster.

    Less weight: Empty out the trunk or remove items not needed in the car. To lighten the car up to give less resistance.

  7. Step 7

    Get gas cards: Gas card works kinda like a credit card and helps you budget. So you can see how much you spend on gas in a month.

    Easy when accerating: The more you use your gas pedal. The more you burn up expensive gas. Just be patience it is not a race to see who is off the line first.

    Walk or Bike: Walk or ride a bike to the store. Why get in the car and waste gas just to go to the store at the corner to get some bread.

    Carpool: Helps you out so you are not paying for gas all the time. Also saves on air pollution.

    Maintainence: Keep up with your periodical car maintainence. Such as changing your oil or servicing your engine.

    Other transportation: It's cheaper to take the bus than pay for a gallon of gas.

    Tires: Inflate all the tires properly according to the car manuel. So not to slow down the vehicle.
