The pointing device with your computer is called a cursor or pointer. You are not limited to the customary arrow as the cursor on your computer. Following are instructions on how to download, install, and choose free cursors from a toolbar set in your browser. You can choose from over 7,000 cursors, all in color and many animated. Some come with tails that follow the pointer, making changing your cursor a fun option!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Go to www.cursorkingdom.com. (The link can be copy and pasted to a new window, or you can click on the link in Resources, below.)
Step2
Click on the "Click Here" button, followed on the next screen by the "Click Here To Start" button. You will be prompted to accept the terms of use. The terms tell you about what other services come along with free cursors, as well as how to uninstall the toolbar. When you have finished reading the terms of use, click the Accept button.
Step3
On the next screen, you will be prompted to turn on ActiveX. Follow the steps. If ActiveX is already active (as in, you do not see a yellow banner on the page), then click on “Click Here” link under “Still Having Trouble.” That will move you on to the next step.
Step4
Click the “Download Now” button and when prompted, click the “Run” button. You may be prompted again to accept the agreement. When the software has finished installing, click the “Finish” button. You will need to close your browser and then reopen your browser to see the toolbar installed.
Step5
Now, to choose a different cursor, click on the “Cursor Mania” button in the newly installed toolbar. That will open the Cursor Mania box.
Step6
From the Cursor Mania box, scroll through the category list on the left, clicking on a category to view its contents. On the right, you will find images of the cursor options. Above the cursor options are links to subcategories. Once you find a cursor you like, click the cursor image and that will instantly convert your current cursor setting to the new selection. Note that in the upper right corner of the Cursor Mania box, there is a link to reset your cursor back to the default pointer setting.
Step7
Click the X in the upper right corner of the Cursor Mania box to close it out. To change your cursor, repeat Steps 5 and 6.

Tips & Warnings

  • To remove the installed toolbar, click on the Start button of your Windows task pane. Click on Settings, Control Panel. On the control panel, click on Add or Remove Programs. Scroll to “My Web Search (Cursor Mania)”. Click on it and then click the Change/Remove button. To completely remove the service, check the box, and then click the Yes button. Click OK when finished. You will need to reboot your computer to complete the process.
