Summer's here and with it comes picnics and barbeques. If you're looking for an easy, delicious, and crowd-pleasing dish that is inexpensive to make, look no further than deviled eggs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One dozen eggs
  • Miracle Whip
  • Yellow Mustard
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Salt
  1. Step 1

Boil, cool, and peel one dozen eggs. The eggs can be any size you wish.

  2. Step 2

Cut eggs in half, lengthwise. Remove the yolks and place in a mixing bowl. Reserve the egg whites and place them on a tray or plate. There are specially made dishes for deviled eggs (see the resources section below).

  3. Step 3

Combine the yolks with 6 Tablespoons of Miracle Whip, 1 Tablespoon of yellow mustard, 1 Tablespoon of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix until the mixture is smooth, with no lumps. (Don't be tempted to substitute mayonnaise for Miracle Whip; the Miracle Whip along with the sugar gives these eggs a distinctive, delicious taste.

  4. Step 4

Refill the egg whites with the yolk mixture. Garnish as desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • A simple method for boiling eggs is to place them in cold water, bring to a boil for several minutes, and then turn off the heat and let them sit for 10 minutes or until done. Test doneness with one egg first.
  • The ingredients that make this recipe so great are Miracle Whip and sugar. You may be tempted to replace the Miracle Whip with mayo, but that will change the flavor significantly.
  • For a great presentation (and to earn the raves of all of your friends) fill the eggs by placing the yolk mixture into a cookie press or icing bag with a decorative tip. (See picture) This is easy and looks great!
  • Eggs spoil easily. Make sure your eggs are properly refrigerated until they are served.

on 7/11/2008 This is an interesting recipe. The Miracle Whip and sugar sound more sweet than savory. This I must try! Thank you! *****
