How to Cancel an eBay auction without selling the item

So you've put an item up for sell on eBay and now you need to stop the auction. Just follow these simple steps to end your auction without selling the item.

Things You'll Need:

• Computer
• Internet Service
• eBay account

1. First you will need to know the eBay item number. This number is how eBay keeps track of the millions of auctions. You can find it in the upper right hand of your eBay auction. Write this number down as it will be needed in the next step.

2. Go the the End My Auction Early Form. Just go to the following webpage:

3. Enter your username and password when prompted.

4. Carefully, enter the item number and click continue. Be sure that the number is correct.

5. When given the option choose:
   
   Cancel bids and end listing early.

6. Choose the reason that you are ending the listing early. The options are:
   The item is no longer available for sale.
   There was an error in the starting price or reserve price.
   There was an error in the listing.
   The item was lost or broken.

Tips & Warnings

• If your item has a bid, there is no reserve price, and you do not click on cancel bids, the item will be sold to the current bidder for the current bid amount - so be careful!
• If your item has a bid, there is no reserve price, and there are 12 or less hours left in the auction, you CANNOT cancel the auction.
• If your item has a bid, there is a reserve price that has been met, and there are 12 or less hours left in the auction, you CANNOT cancel the auction.
