Urinary tract infections are no fun. Here's what you can to to treat one and start feeling better.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

See your doctor and take your antibiotics as prescribed.

  2. Step 2

Be sure to take probiotics to counter act the effects the antibiotics have on your digestive system. Acidopholis is great but if you can get a combination of probiotics that would be even better. Kyodopholis can be found in your local drugstore in the vitamin section or you can try the new yogurts now available.

  3. Step 3

Drink a lot of water to flush out your system.

  4. Step 4

The typical bacteria that causes a urinary tract infection does not do well in acidic environments. Straight cranberry juice, not the cocktail, and other acidic beverages should be consummed in addition to water.

  5. Step 5

Take garlic pills (as directed on package) and eat garlic when ever possible. Garlic is a natural fighter of bacteria and viruses.

  6. Step 6

Over the counter medications at your local pharmacy may help with the pain. Be ware, most of them turn your urine crazy colors (blue, green or orange). Your doctor may be able to prescribe something better if these are not working for you.

  7. Step 7

When your medication is finished, continue these other treatments for another week to get your body back on track.

  8. Step 8

Be sure to have your urine tested again in one week following the antibiotic treatment to be sure it is gone.
