I'm sure we all have wonderful memories of making play dough sculptures when we were children, with this edible play dough recipe you can pass on the fun to your kids and not worry if they "taste test" their creations! This recipe does not taste great, but it's safe! Don't spend money on play dough, it's easy and inexpensive to make, and the kids will have just as much fun making it as they will playing with it! You probably have all the ingredients right in your kitchen cupboard!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tarter
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoons mineral oil
  • Food coloring (optional)
Step1
In a large sauce pan cook all ingredients over meduim heat until it forms a stiff substance (if you want play dough in different colors you will need to repeat this adding the food coloring of your choice)
Step2
Take the dough out of the sauce pan and put it on wax paper to cool, cover with a damp cloth.
Step3
Store your play dough in an air-tight container in the fridge.

Tips & Warnings

  • I've used playdough out of the pan, just make sure it's cool enough for little hands.
  • The more food coloring you add, the more vibrant the colors will be.
