Put Your Credit Card On Ice.

When I first started this strategy of leaving my debit card at home. I debited the money I needed for the first two weeks according to my budget. After that I froze DEBIT CARD in a cup of ice. This really made me stick to my financial plan. I had to wait till the ice melted to use my card. This gave me time to think If the purchase was necessary.

        Give Yourself A Raise

Decrease your deductions on your W-4 form. Average income tax refunds was $2200 last year. That is too much money to let the government hold on for you for a year. By decreasing your deductions you will take more money home each pay check. Anyway, when most people receive a large tax refund they go out and blow it on unnecessary things. If you discipline yourself, you can save more money in a savings account at 8% interest (see financial planner)or an emergency fund. Stop loaning your money to the government, because they are investing it and blowing it on the war.

Open an Investment account with Automatic Contributions

Many people think that you have to be rich or have lots of money to save money. You can start with as little as fifty dollars a paycheck. I can remember setting up my first investment account. In two years time I had more than enough cash for my first down payment on my first home. When you decrease your deductions the money will be there. Go ahead what else do you have to lose.

        Pay Your Bills Automatically

Late Fees are on the rise. Every time we look around stamp prices are rising. During these times it is so risky to trust the postal service with delivering your car, mortgage, rent, credit card, phone or gas payment. A 30 day late mark on your credit report because the mail delivered the payment late. Is that worth lowering your credit score or being denied a mortgage or job. Paying bills online gives you a record of when, who and how much you payed the creditor. Its peace of mind.

        Break Bad Habits
        Quit smoking/Drinking

Before I received Jesus Christ two years ago I was a binge drinker. It was a bad habit I acquired from college. I used to hang out with my buddies on the weekend and sometimes blow between $200-$300 dollars every weekend. Do the math, that is $1000 a month. That kind of money can pay the rent, insurance and car note. Hey, if I can quit so can you.
