How to empty the Trash Bin on a Mac Computer

Ever wonder how to empty the trash on a MacBook or other Apple computer? Unlike using a PC, you are not able to right click the recycle bin on the desktop to empty the trash. Discovering how to empty the trash can get frustrating when you don't know which icon to click.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Mac operating system

1. When your computer is powered up locate the trash bin on the desktop
   HINT: it is usually on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen

2. Click once on the trash can icon and a new screen featuring what is inside the trash can, will pop up

   Once the image is up click on the icon at the top of the page that looks like a screw

4. Click on the down arrow next to the "screw" icon

5. Scroll down until you get to "empty trash" and click on it

6. A small window will pop up asking if you want to permanently delete the items in the trash- click
   "ok." Now you have emptied the trash!

7. Click on the red circle on the top left hand corner of the trash window to close the window and get back to your desktop.

Tips & Warnings

• When you delete your trash, it will be permanent and you will not be able to retrieve the items you have deleted
