How to make Vietnamese Iced Coffee - Inexpensively

Ever had Vietnamese iced espresso coffee at a restaurant and wanted to try it at home. The drink can be expensive in the restaurant or coffee shop. These is my own recipe, it is not the traditional method of making the drink, but I find this an excellent stand-in (and it is much easier - and doesn't require the special coffee press)

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • instant espresso coffee
  • sweetened condensed milk

Step1
Follow the directions to make instant espresso (I make mine a bit stronger - because we will be adding ice later).
Step2
Place about 1/4 cup of sweetened condensed milk in the bottom of a large cup. (I didn't say it wasn't fattening - but it is so good)
Step3
Pour the very hot espresso over the sweetened condensed milk. Stir until well mixed.
Step4
Add lots of ice until the glass is full. Stir well and drink.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not buy the name brand sweetened condensed milk. I buy generic and save over half the cost (you can't tell the difference)
  • this drink can be addictive - and it isn't low in calories or fat.
