With the price of gas these days, the easiest way to save cash is to look in other areas to save. Read on to learn how to save on long distance calls. Choose your strategy.
cable phone service
Call your local cable company as they offer phone service now. There are some good deals on combination services like phone, cable tv and internet. All long distance is free. There is one fee for the service. There is no fee for calling cell phones either like on other phone services.
Step2
Sign up for phonehog.
Sign up for a free long distance calling card at www.phonehog.com. Here you can take surveys, shop online etc. and earn minutes to use on your phone. If cable is not available in your area, this is your best shot. If you get cable, you won't need this membership card.
Step3
Get rid of your land line.
If your long distance is really sky high and you can't get or afford cable purchase a bigger plan on your cell phone if you have one. Get rid of your landline to save on the service fees to make up the differece. Consider the incentives that cell phone companies offer to meet your needs, such as rollover minutes.
Tips & Warnings
Consider your options
Do your research to make sure you save the most money.
If your cable goes out when you have a phone with them, the phone does not work either.

good idea about getting rid of the land line. Just make sure you check first and see if you had a contracted amount of time. Also for us who have DSL some companies require the phone service to get the DSL.
