How to cure Blackheads

How to cure Blackheadsthumbnail
Clay masks are great for zapping and preventing blackheads.

Blackheads are tiny black dots that appear on your face as the result of dirt and oils building up and clogging pores. Blackheads are commonly found on and around the nose and chin, but can appear anywhere on your face. Curing blackheads and preventing them from returning is easy to do with a little dedication to skin care and some helpful beauty supplies.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Facial cleanser
    • Washcloth
    • Cotton balls
    • Tea tree oil
    • Pore strips
    • Facial exfoliator
    • Clay face mask

Wash your face with cleanser and warm water daily and nightly before bed and thoroughly dry by patting with a clean washcloth. Dip a cotton ball in tea tree oil and wipe it all over your face. Tea tree oil is an effective toner that will zap oils your face wash might have missed.

Apply a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer following washing and toning and prior to putting on makeup in the morning or going to bed at night. If you have oily skin, moisturize only in the morning.

      • 3

Use pore strips twice a week on areas where blackheads tend to pop up following face washing at night, and before using toner or moisturizer. Wet your fingers with warm water and run the strip between fingertips to wet it. Press the strip down firmly atop the skin and let it dry for 10 minutes then it peel back.

Exfoliate every three days after face washing with a gentle facial scrub. Only use exfoliators meant for the face's sensitive skin and skip toning afterward, as this can cause excessive dryness.

      • 5

Use a clay facial mask weekly after washing to deep clean pores and make them appear smaller. While clay masks can't actually shrink your pores, they can tighten them temporarily and remove deep down dirt. Slather on a thin layer, wait 15 minutes for it to dry and rinse with warm water. Tone and moisturize as normal.

    Tips & Warnings

    • While it can damage skin and shouldn't be practiced regularly you can push out blackheads if you need them gone right away. Wash your face with warm water, wrap toilet paper around each index finger and place fingers on either side of the blackhead, then squeeze to push it out. Use toner and moisturizer afterward.

    • Antibiotics don't prevent pores from becoming blocked so treatment of benzoyl peroxide is often also prescribed at the same time.
