Things You'll Need:
- frisbee
-
Step 1
First, the grip. Pinch the frisbee in your throwing hand with your middle and index fingers together on the inside on the rim of the frisbee and your thumb on the outside, applying opposing force. Imagine a claw or pincer.
-
Step 2
Now, practice this drill: throw the frisbee a few feet vetically up in the air to yourself, focusing on giving the frisbee backspin. This here is the whole key to flicking the frisbee. You have to get used to the feeling of putting backspin on the frisbee as you release it (this will straighten out its flight and encourage a level release).
-
Step 3
Try throwing it. What happened? If you're right handed I bet the frisbee took a sharp dive to the left and died 10 yards in front of you. To fix this, first focus in tilting the frisbee agressively to the right as throw throw this. This is done by adjusting your arm angle as well as leaning over to the right (if you're right handed). This also involves the ever elusive "flick" of the wrist.
-
Step 4
First, remember to keep your arm quiet during the throw. What I mean is, the stability, or sweet spot of the throw comes from a good flick of the wrist that imparts backspin (rightward spin away from your body if you're right handed), while tilting the frisbee away from your body at the same time. Don't use your arms to give it power as this will only make it hook left even more.
-
Step 5
Remember these things and you should be able to successfully flick a frisbee. Good luck!
