Nobody likes those little red and itchy bumps that can come up after shaving. The bumps, technically called pseudofolliculitis barbae, are ingrown hairs that the razor missed. The best way to prevent the bumps is to stop shaving, but if that is not an option, make a habit of shaving the right way all of the time. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Shaving cream
  • Razor, preferably with a new blade.
  • Dry towel
  • Warm to hot water

Instructions

      Take a hot shower or bath right before shaving to loosen the skin's pores. Lather the shaving area with thick shaving cream or gel.

      Shave the area without stretching the skin. Shave in the direction of the hair growth with as few strokes as possible.

      Rinse off the remaining shaving cream with cold water, and apply a moisturizing lotion to the shaved area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not shave against the grain, go WITH the grain to prevent bumps.

  • Always apply lotion after you shave.

  • Keep razors and shaving creams out of reach of children at all times.
