Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- duct tape
- a dollar bill (for measurements)
- some sort of card (for measurements)
Step1
First to make your duct tape wallet you need to get your supply's ready. You need a roll of duct tape, a dollar bill and a credit card or business card. The card and the bill are only used for estimating the size of the pockets.
Step2
To start off, you need to lay down 2 pieces of duct tape ,sticky side up that are as long as your bill. You need to make sure that they overlap just a little so they are stuck to each other in the shape of a rectangle. Then get 2 more pieces of tape and cover this rectangle with them, sticky side down. Now you should have a rectangle of duct tape, slightly larger than your bill, and not sticky on either side.
Step3
Now make another rectangle just like the first one, and position them one above the other on the table.
Step4
Now it gets complicated. You need to tape both rectangles into one square. Tape on both sides along the seam so that neither side is sticky. Now fold it up and tape both ends together. If you have done it right you should have a sailors hat or boat shape.
Step5
Now the next step is to make card pockets. For sizing, i decided to chose my NRA CARD. i feel the national rifle association card is a good candidate for this project because ,just like my rifle, the only way to get my wallet is "From my cold dead hands." anyhow, Back on topic, make a strip of duct tape a little longer than your wallet and lay it on the table sticky side up.
Step6
Now tear out 2 NRA card size strips of Duct tape. and apply them about an half inch apart on your long strip, sticky side down.
Step7
Now apply this whole thing to the side of your wallet, centering the center of the strip on the center of the duct tape wallet. Now you will want to add one strip of duct tape on the bottom of the card slot, to keep your Cards from falling out. Now fold the wallet up and add 2 strips of duct tape to the back of it while it is folded up. the point of this is to help it hold closed.
Step8
Congratulations Your wallet is complete! You will have to keep it in your pocket for about a week before it will stay closed on its own. Also note that with the best of care these often only last for about 6 months to a year or so, but you can make a new one when it falls apart.
