Wake up with the sun
Start going to bed at a reasonable hour that will allow your body enough time to wake up during or just as the sun is at the peak of it's morning existence. It is something about the sun that activates the brain signals. Many historians and successful people will tell you they got up or get up at sunrise. The brain is sharper and more prone to work in a wake mode much different than waking up midday or after too many hours sleep. You've heard the 'ole cliche', "it's the early bird that gets the worm, well that saying has many meanings other than just being first. Scientifically, it refers to the brain being at the ability of peak performance to ready for tasks throughout the day. If you wake up at sunrise and schedule deeds consistently, your body will begin to react and after awhile feel more refreshed. Want to wake up peaceful? It's the job of the sun. Try to get out of the frame of mind of letting a loud unnatural noise slam your spirit back into its' body.

Bless your day.
The moment you are conscience that you are waking up, whatever it is to you that means thanks to creation you need silently to say to yourself. If you thank God for your existence, then do so before your eyes are completely opened. If it is Allah or Buddha, make praise. One way I give thanks to another day is to bless the light of the world, which is an attribute basically of the creator of all things. You can try an attribute method even if you are not "religious". It is very simple. We do it all day, unconsciously. We thank the creator, the giver, the knower, the truth: thank gosh for the truth. There's nothing spooky about it.

Stretch and breath into your limbs and organs
As you are waking squirm in the bed. This doesn't have to bother your partner. Alot of it is going to be through brain power. You are going to slowly move your limbs and visualize as you take deep breathes that air is circulating throughout your head, under your skin in your head, your neck, your shoulders, arms, all throughout your body. Eventually you will be so good at it that when you take your first deep breath for your head and brain, the long exhale you should have will be a complete process. You will in no time, if you do this daily activate your entire body with just a few deep breaths. You're going to use this same technique simultaneously with the imagination of the blood awakening, you do realize the blood in your body has slowed down, and rushing through all the vital organs in your system. Once you adapt this method, you will become and expert and in weeks you'll be absolutely shocked how awake you feel by the time you get out of the bed.

Hum.
If you are a singer, speaker or have a job where you are going to use your vocal chords for most of the day, the best thing you can do then have long winded conversations or screaming like at kids in the morning, is hum. Humming will do absolute wonders for your vocal chords early in the morning. It will just do havoc on your voice and vocal chords screaming or arguing in the morning. Don't do it! Eventually you will lose your voice and ability to speak effectively. If loud talking and constant long conversations is a regularly as soon as you get up, ease into the talking and never do the screaming. Humming is felt throughout the entire body and the body loves the vibration of it. For some reason, perhaps because it is a universal sound that resonates throughout inanimate objects, it makes you feel good and keeps us in tuned with nature. As a singer-songwriter, humming in the morning has lead me to write some of the most beautiful melodies and hit the highest and most complicated notes during this period of the day; mostly before I've even gotten out of the bed.

Cold Water.
After using your method of washing your face, finish with a rinse of as cold as you can take it cold water. This is excellent to bring blood circulation to the skin, tightens it and more than anything for reasons of this article will bring you to a complete eye opened monster. You'll feel like you can tackle anything. Washing the face with cold water will wake up every nerve in your body; the colder, the better. Don't ease into it, just do it. If you are a person that wakes up with type of dead feeling in your temples, this will take it or any drained feeling away immediately. Finish if with your regular morning exercise if you like, although if you use exercise as a method to wake up, you'll need to do less after doing these five steps.

on 7/11/2008 I've recently started waking up with the sun and I love it! Sadly I'm in the middle of bad wildfires and the smoke is so thick it's blocking out the sun! Thanks to your tips I didn't throw out my alarm clock -so I'm still able to maintain a schedule. Thanks!

on 7/10/2008 Oh oh. Word of caution and interest. I stayed at a relatives last night who needed to be out by 7:15 tops! They do not like mornings! Dependent on their phone as an alarm, it wasn't working correctly, they woke up at... 7:15. They used the water method was up and at it lunch packing/all in 15mins. no choice, new job. Then it dawned on me too why we both got up late (well I went to sleep at 4 but) and I was reminded I didn't include something in my article. Every window in her house is tight in the mornings. People, there has to be the ability for the sun to shine into your bedroom... in the morning. It's paramount. Please C my added warning, immediately. Sorry about that.
