Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Electric beard trimmer with attachments.
- Triple blade razors.
- Antibacterial soap or medicated wash.
- Alcohol.
- Shaving cream.
- Hot water.
Step1
Assess the areas that need attention. Common areas are the eyebrows, back, chest, and legs. Some men prefer hairy chests and legs which is fine, but make sure the hair is reasonable and controlled.
Step2
Begin your grooming with an electric beard trimmer that has a guard attachment. These can be found at a local drug store or grocer for $15-$30. Start with the guard at a high (long) setting and adjust downward to make the hair shorter until you reach a desired length. You may wish to remove the guard to trim the boundaries of your hair in areas like sideburns, neck (have someone help you), etc.
Step3
If you choose to use a razor, make sure it is clean and sharp. Begin by pouring alcohol over the blade to kill bacteria that may cause irritation and bumps. Also clean the skin with anti-bacterial soap or a medicated wash (especially on your face). Use shaving cream and hot water to soften the skin and open the pores.
Step4
Follow any close shave job with an aftershave or moisturizer. This is especially important for sensitive areas like your face or large areas like your legs or chest.
Step5
Be sure to maintain your trimmed look by using the trimmer with the same guard settings at least once per week. If you have particularly stubborn or unruly hair, or hair that is difficult to reach on your own (such as your back) you may consider going to a spa to have the hair removed professionally. There are many places that accommodate men and are sensitive to their needs and desires.
