Find Great Photos for Your Articles

Photos are a vital ingredient to a truly successful article but many writers are just not sure where to find photos that are of great quality, appropriate to their topic and most of all, legal to use on their websites, articles and blogs.
Time and time again I am asked where I find all the terrific photos that I use in my eHow articles. I was always very hesitant to give away my source but here I go... to reward you for taking the time to read my articles, I'll finally share my secret.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign up for an account in the photo site listed in the resource section below this article.

  2. Step 2

Once logged in, type in your keywords for what type of photo you'd like to find.

  3. Step 3

You can further customize your search by clicking 'match all' or 'match any'.

  4. Step 4

That's not all... you can customize your search even further by checking out the small tabs under the search bar. They have: 'advanced search' 'image properties' 'model properties' 'latest searches' and 'search legend'.

  5. Step 5

Click the photo you wish to download.

  6. Step 6

You will be taken to the download page where you will agree to their TOS and check the box and then hit the download button next to the size of that particular image you wish to download. For eHow articles, do not go above 800 pixels.

  7. Step 7

Your computer should open it up for you in your preferred imaging software program. I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 for this.

  8. Step 8

Save your new photo. I save mine in folders named for the site in which I downloaded them from and keep the original name so I can easily go back for proper credits if necessary.

  9. Step 9

You can also make money at this site by selling your photos!

Tips & Warnings
  • I'm hoping divulging this secret will be worth a 5 star rating.
  • If a photo is level 1 it will take 1 credit to purchase. Level 2 takes 2 credits to purchase, etc.
  • There is a free section. Look for the Free tab at the top.
  • Be careful if you're looking for free only images that you don't get carried away and fall in love with the for credit photos. There is simply a thin divider line between the two. If there are no free photos for your specific search, it will say so at the top and then show you those which you can purchase if they have those available.
