Lo mein can be a delicious dish to enjoy with a loved one or serve up in a large batch for a dinner party. Once you have the hang of it, you will be making it all the time! Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 tbs oil (vegetable oil is fine)
  • 1 c snow peas, halved
  • 1 red bell pepper seeded and cut into thin slices
  • 1/2 lb assorted mushrooms
  • 4 scallions diced up
  • 2 c fresh bean sprouts
  • 2 inches ginger root, minced or grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound lo mein noodles or thin spaghetti, cooked al dente & drained
  • 1/2 c aged tamari soy sauce
  • 1 tbs toasted sesame seed oil

Instructions

      Take caution when adding oil to your pan!

      Heat up your wok or a large non-stick skillet to high heat. Once wok or skillet is at maximum heat, add the oil. Thi smay smoke a bit.

      Once pan is heated and oil is added, add the snow peas, pepper, scallions, mushrooms and your bean sprouts and stir fry for about one minute. This will help to flavor the oil.

      Next add in the ginger and garlic and stir fry for about two more minutes.

      Toss in your cooked noodles and stir around, then add the soy sauce and toss entire contents to be sure to coat everything evenly.

      Finally you are ready to transfer the lo mein to a serving dish and drizzle it with some of the toasted sesame oil. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add any kind of meat that you wish to this recipe such as chicken, pork, shrimp, scallops, etc.

  • Be careful when working with a pan on such high heat!
