How to Stay Up All Night Long
Everyone has his or her own favorite method for staying up all night, but here are some suggestions. Staying up all night long is necessary for various reasons, such as working an overnight shift, catching an early flight or studying for a test. The hours between 3 and 5 a.m. are the most difficult for staying awake. If you need to stay up all night, prepare ahead of time so you aren't tempted to fall asleep.

1
Stock up on healthful foods so you aren't tempted to load up on heavy carbs. Carbohydrates can cause a sugar crash and leave you more sleepy. Fruits, vegetables and nuts will help keep you energized.
-
2
Drink coffee or energy drinks. Coffee contains caffeine, which helps most people stay awake. Energy drinks contain caffeine, taurine and ginseng. Too much of either of these can upset your stomach, so drink them in limited quantities.

3
Take a caffeine supplement. Caffeine is available in candy and pill form if you don't want to drink a lot of liquid. These types of caffeine are found at drugstores.

4
Stretch frequently throughout the evening to keep your blood flowing. Exercise creates endorphins, which give you energy. Try stretching for five minutes every hour.
-
5
Go somewhere other than your home. If you aren't near home, where your couch and bed are, you are less likely to fall asleep.
-
6
Stay away from your bedroom if you must be at home. The bedroom is associated with sleep and will make you more tired.
