Things You'll Need:
- can for collecting seeds
-
Step 1
Old Man's BeardIdentify the seeds. You can tell when seeds are ready when the plant takes on the characteristic "Old man's beard" look. When the seeds are dark brown and dry, they are ready to be collected and can be stored safely.
-
Step 2
Clematis seedsOnce you have identified your dark brown seeds, collecting them is easy. Take your coffee can and place it under the seed head and gently pull the seeds away from the pod. Drop them in your can. If the seeds do not fall easily with a gentle pull, they are not ready to be collected.
-
Step 3
Store you seeds in a ziplock baggie in a dark place outside during the winter or in the refrigerator.
