If you're looking to become certified in teaching a foreign language, lots of schools will get you a certificate with quick and intensive ESL accreditation programs. Getting certified will often help you land jobs in language education and will round out your resume. The process of getting ESL certified includes linking up with a school and maintaining clear communications every step of the way.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Look at schools by destination, by specialization and by how the market weights their offered certificates. Whether it's Cambridge, Oxford or some other certification, look at what will fit best into your resume.
Step2
Get satisfied with what the school will offer you. Some schools offer visa accommodations for travel, housing help or job placement programs after certification. Evaluate these offers and find one that you like before you enroll.
Step3
Clear your schedule. For an intensive one month course, success depends on a 100% focus on the class for the time you're enrolled. If you want to get certified on the side, choose a longer, less intensive program.
Step4
Arrange for housing, visa requirements and all other concerns before starting. If you're taking your ESL certification in a foreign country, you'll need to sort out all of these details well ahead of time.
Step5
Know all of the requirements for the course and fulfill them. When you are at your destination, doing the coursework and attending lectures, it's critical that you know what's expected of you. It's a bad feeling to do all of the arrangements and then have your grade or chance of passing hanging in the balance. Be clear about the requirements for papers and assignments and stay on top of the process to be sure that you emerge a winner with an ESL certificate.
