Most of the personal printers in the computer market are inkjet type printers. You use inkjet cartridges to print the pictures and documents you use on a daily basis. When the inkjet cartridges run dry, you replace them with other full ones. The remaining problem however, is how to dispose of the used inkjet cartridge.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Inquire with the manufacturer about rebates or lower prices on new cartridges if you recycle the old ink cartridge through them. Many manufacturers are starting or are running recycle programs with their customers. The discount per cartridge is about five dollars. All you have to do is send in the old cartridge and they will send you a replacement with the discounted price.

  2. Step 2

Recycle the inkjet cartridges through a third party company. Numerous companies are paying cash for you to recycle your old inkjet cartridges through them. They pay the end consumer about 30 cents per inkjet. The payment isn't a large amount but every few cents helps. The other benefit to recycling is a global one. By recycling the cartridges, we conserve natural resources and help solve the problem of increasing the world's landfills.

  3. Step 3

Refill the inkjet cartridges yourself and save money over buying new inkjet cartridges. The process is very simple and can save many dollars each time you refill it. Instructions come with the refill kits for most of the major inkjet manufacturers. They are available for both black and color inkjets.
