How to Write a Resume for a Bartending Job

If you have little or no experience bartending, writing your resume to get a job as a bartender requires a little bit of creativity to add information to your regular resume that showcases the jobs you've already had. Since bartending requires more skills than just making drinks, the objective is to let the employer know that you can be trusted with a lot of alcohol and intoxicated patrons.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up your resume as you would any other with your name and contact information at the top.

    • 2

Move any bartending, food service and sales experience to the top of your resume. Since you're tailoring your resume for a specific job application, your resume doesn't need to be chronological. Instead, put the jobs that you want to draw most attention to at the top to showcase related experience.

    • 3

Highlight any interaction you've had with crowds and the public. In your description of what you did at each job, make sure you take the angle that you were providing service to others, tailoring orders and doing things precisely. Be sure to list any times you've checked for accuracy, dealt with belligerent customers and taken money or operated a cash register.

Make your special skills section creative. List things like "easily adaptable," "quick learner," or "night owl." Think about what's required of you in a bartending position and if you honestly have those skills, then list them in your special skills section.
