The popular auction site eBay is a commonplace way for people to sell their goods. If you're an eBay seller and you have a problem with a buyer, there are ways to resolve the issue without losing money or your good name.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Buyer contact information
  • Auction ID number
  • Postal tracking

Step1
Reply to your buyer as soon as they contact you with an issue. Find out exactly what the problem is and try to offer a solution you can both be happy with.
Step2
Provide tracking numbers for your eBay items so the buyer will know exactly where their items are. This also gives you defense in case they claim an item was never received.
Step3
Use eBay's help console to provide a source of mediation. This helps you keep track of what's going on with your disgruntled buyer and gives proof that you're working to solve it.
Step4
Enlist the help of Paypal in the event that a buyer files a formal complaint. State your case clearly and as thoroughly as possible.
Step5
Refund the buyer if absolutely necessary. Sometimes, customers cannot be pleased unless they receive their money back in full.

Tips & Warnings

  • Encourage all buyers to purchase postal insurance. This protects you in the event that an item gets either lost or damaged in the mail and it doesn't hold you liable.
  • Be as calm as you can. Sometimes buyers get angry initially, but will cool down once you're able to give them an amicable solution.
