Concrete aggregate is widely used in a variety of construction jobs. Using the recycled variety not only saves the environment, but can also save you money and help your company build greener buildings and a greener company image. The following information will help you in buying recycled aggregate.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Check the laws for using recycled concrete aggregate. Most states are on board with this eco-friendly trend, but always check with the jurisdiction your project is in. The only issue that has ever arose against recycled concrete aggregate is the presence on lead-based materials in the recycled materials, i.e. an old building. There are now screening procedures in place to prevent this from happening.
Step2
Look for the quality of the materials use to make the concrete aggregate to coincide with the quality of the materials you would normally use for the project you are doing. This is how you ensure there will not be problems down the road by using different materials than normally expected.
Step3
Compare suppliers and prices for recycled concrete aggregate. Most aggregate is sold as 1 1/2" to 2" fractions. Since this is primarily for construction and road work, it is the ideal size. If you need a different size, ask the quarry or gravel dealer. Don't forget to check landscape, home building stores and local sand & gravel companies.
