Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Opt for an educational toy in bright colors that will teach as well as entertain. Consider a laptop that includes colors, letters and numbers, for example. The musical sounds will hold a baby's interest and the toy will still fascinate a toddler who wants to emulate mom and dad on the computer.
Step2
Consider a small set of musical instruments, play drums or a miniature piano. Find an object in a classic color like deep red to fit in with most any nursery décor.
Step3
Buy a cuddly stuffed animal in bright colors instead of pink or blue. Look for one with touchable textures, crinkly materials, bells and other interactive features to stimulate a sense of curiosity and discovery.
Step4
Choose an activity mat with dangling rattles, rings, pop-up flaps and mirrors. The vibrant hues and movement will keep baby occupied and give mom a break when she needs her hands free for a moment.
Step5
Look for stuffed animals in striking black and white to stimulate infants and avoid the gender issue. Also consider an animal like an adorable zebra instead of a kitten or puppy that might be more closely associated with girls or boys.
Step6
Keep babies entertained with classic pull toys that they'll still love when they begin crawling and toddling around the house.
