How to Make a Sardine Surprise for Cats
Add a little pizazz to your cat's diet, and treat your furry feline friend to some special sardine surprise. Sardine surprise is quick and easy to make, and very inexpensive. Your kitty will love the fresh flavor of the sardines, mixed with rice and liver.
Things You'll Need
- Food processor or blender
- 1/4 cup beef liver or chicken livers
- 2 tbsp. water or chicken broth
- 3 tins oil packed sardines
- 1 cup cooked brown rice
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Sealed container

Put the beef or chicken livers in the food processor or blender. Add the water or chicken broth, and blend until smooth.

Add the sardines and oil, cooked brown rice and chopped parsley. Process the mixture for a few seconds, but don't over-blend. Leave a few chunks for kitty to enjoy. If the mixture is too dry, add more water or broth. It it's too wet, add a little more rice.

Put the sardine surprise in a sealed container.

Refrigerate the sardine surprise and give it to your cat a little bit at a time. Sardine surprise will keep in the refrigerator up three days.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't have beef liver or chicken livers, liver-flavored cat food will work. However, don't add additional water or broth.
If you won't be using the sardine surprise within three days, store it in the freezer. Form the sardine surprise kitty treats into small balls first, if desired. Thaw them out before serving them to your cat.
