Step 1
Recognize that cellulite is not necessarily caused by excess weight. Up to 90 percent of women develop cellulite after their adolescent years, and it is cause by many factors, such as hormonal changes, dehydration or poor elimination of toxins from the body. Fatty tissue and cellulite are not the same thing, as there is no amount of exercise, liposuction or weight reduction which can get rid of cellulite, while these things work great for fatty tissues.
-
Step 2
Look for cellulite on the surface of the skin. If you must squeeze your tissue to see a rippling, sort of cottage cheese effect, this is not cellulite, but fatty deposits found deeper in the skin. Cellulite is visible without manipulating the skin in any way.
-
Step 3
Watch for areas of the body which dimple or have the look of an orange peel without have to touch, stretch, squeeze or manipulate the skin. Cellulite is found very close to the skins surface, and for this reason can be recognized easily as opposed to fat deposits.
-
Step 4
Spot cellulite easily if you have lost a large amount of weight or are aging and have flaccid skin. Because cellulite is found close to the surface of the skin and is not burned off with fat during diet and exercise, flacid skin often becomes lumpy and dimpled. This effect is cellulite.

on 8/29/2008 Another way to check for cellulite is to simply pinch the skin around your buttocks or upper thighs. If you see lumps or an uneven surface, you probably have some cellulite. Visit http://www.bodycellulite.com for more tips.
