Step 1
Exercise at least 5 or 6 days a week for an hour at a time. Smith even increases his workouts to every day when he isn't filming his next movie.
-
Step 2
Run 6 days a week for at least 5 miles at a time, preferably in the outdoors. While the actor uses a treadmill, he claims he doesn't like the effect it has on him and would rather go for a run outside.
-
Step 3
Try boxing several times a week to get your heart rate up and to increase the muscles in your arms and chest. Since learning to box for his role as Muhammad Ali, Smith has learned how effective the workouts can be.
-
Step 4
Work one part of your body to the point where you begin to feel muscle strain, fatigue or complete failure. When working out for his role in "I Am Legend," Smith would focus all of his attention on one body part until it could barely work and then move onto another part the next day.
-
Step 5
Use a flat bench or an incline bench to build up your muscles. You should start out with a light weight and do three sets of ten reps. Then increase the amount of weights and do another six sets.
-
Step 6
Do cardio classes at least once a week in addition to the other workouts. Smith knows that cardio increases his heart rate and helps him keep fit and maintain his weight.
-
Step 7
Stay fit and keep your body fit. Smith says that the only way he keeps himself in shape is by sticking to his routine and forcing himself to keep in shape. He also claims it's the secret to his long lasting marriage with Jada Pinkett-Smith.
