Instructions

  1. Making the Cake

    • 1

Take your 13 inch by 15 inch cake board or thick cardboard and wrap it with tin foil.

    • 2

Mix your boxed cake mix with all of the ingredients according to the recipe on the back of the box.

    • 3

Spray your football cake pan with non-stick cooking spray if the directions on the pan require you to. Pour the cake mix into the football cake pan and bake at the appropriate temperature.

    • 4

Allow the cake to cool and remove the cake from the pan and set on top of your cake board. The football cake becomes Nemo's body.

    Frost the cake

    • 5

Outline on the cake board a top fin, bottom fin and tail with your black piping gel. Outline a 1 inch stripe on the tail closest to Nemo's body and one separating his body and head. Pipe a 3 inch stripe 1/3 of the way from the back of his body.

    • 6

Separate 3 cups of your white butter cream frosting and mix it with orange food coloring.

    • 7

Smooth the white frosting to make an eye and use your black piping gel to create a pupil.

    • 8

Put one of your #18 decorator tips inside of a decorator bag so that the end pops out of the opening. Spoon in your remaining white frosting and pipe stars to fill in the stripes.

    • 9

Take your other #18 decorator tip inside another decorator bag and fill it with 3/4 of the orange frosting. Fill in the rest of the body with orange stars.

    • 10

Use your #3 decorator tip inside your final bag and take the left over orange frosting to pipe lines inside of the fins and tail.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use your own cake recipe instead of a boxed cake if you desire.
