How to Give Yourself a Brazilian Wax

A Brazilian wax is far more than a bikini wax as it not only removes the pubic hair along the bikini line, it removes every last pubic hair. If you are brave enough to try this at home, make sure you do it right.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scissors
  • Hard wax kit (with pre-waxing oil, no strips and soothing lotion)
  • Mirror
  • Tweezers
  1. Step 1

Take a warm shower and wash your pubic area well before beginning your Brazilian wax. Once out of the shower, trim your pubic hair with scissors until it is about a 1/4 inch long.

  2. Step 2

Choose a low temperature, hard wax kit which includes a pre-waxing oil. Add the oil to the wax before you apply it to your hair, which will help to keep the oil from sticking painfully to your skin. Most hard wax kits can be used without strips which is much easier for this type of waxing. Once the wax hardens in place, it holds tightly onto the hair but not to the skin for easier removal.

  3. Step 3

Use a mirror while waxing and place yourself in a comfortable position. When possible, spread your legs and prop your feet up on stools or chairs for the best leverage and view in the mirror.

  4. Step 4

Apply the wax in the same direction that your hair grows in small 2 by 2 inch sections. Start on the bikini line and work your way to the center slowly. After applying the wax, allow it to cool and then pick up one edge, pulling the wax off quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth.

  5. Step 5

Finish the Brazilian wax and then remove any stray hairs with a pair of tweezers. Make sure you do a good once over with your mirror to ensure that from front to back all of the hair has been removed. Finish by applying a soothing lotion to the skin, usually provided in your waxing kit.
