Canker sores are small blisters that form around the mouth and cause a huge pain. Some people are prone to regular canker sores, while others experience only a few in their entire lifetime. If you fall into the first category, you'll be glad to know that there is relief to help heal and treat those painful sores.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 30x borax (available in health food stores)
  • 1000 mg lysine tablets
  • Vitamin C (1 to 2 g)
  • Aloe vera
  • Zinc tablets
  • Baking soda
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  1. Step 1

Begin taking a 30X dosage of the homeopathic remedy borax at the first sign of a canker sore and continue every 2 hours until the pain of the canker sore dissipates.

  2. Step 2

Take 1000 mg of lysine before each meal to help heal canker sores. Once the sores have passed, drop down to 500 mg and continue taking the supplements for one full week.

  3. Step 3

Boost your vitamin C, taking supplements of 1 to 2 g during a canker sore flare up. Not only does vitamin C boost the immune system, the citric acid kills bacteria to promote healing.

  4. Step 4

Squeeze 1 tbsp. of fresh aloe vera juice over 1 crushed zinc tablet and then add a few tablespoons of water. Use the liquid mixture as a mouthwash 3 times daily, swishing in the mouth for at least 30 seconds.

  5. Step 5

Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste and dab it directly onto canker sores to help promote healing. This treatment can be applied several times a day as long as it does not irritate your skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are one of those that seems to get another canker sore as soon as one heals, try taking a regular B-complex vitamin, which has shown to prevent and reduce the duration of canker sore flare ups.
