How to Cool Beers Without a Fridge

Sometimes cooling beer can be a problem, whether you've run out of room in the fridge when you're having a party, when a power outage has occurred, or when roughing it and don't have access to electricity. But with a simple can of compressed air and about 20 seconds of time, you can go from warm beer to cold beer, ready to drink. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Start by poking a hole the size of the nozzle that comes with the compressed air into the side of a plastic container big enough to hold a can of beer. You can do this by holding a nail or screw with a pair of pliers, and carefully heating it until it easily slips through the plastic.

Place the beer can inside the container and place the lid on top. It's a good idea to vent the lid just slightly, so the air has somewhere to escape. You could place a kitchen thermometer in the top of the container, so you can watch the temperature fall.

Put the nozzle of the compressed air can into the hole you made, and release the can of compressed air into the container. The cold air will surround the beer can, and has the potential to chill it from 80 degrees to 30 degrees in about 20 seconds.

Know that this isn't the most environmentally friendly way to cool beer, and can be expensive if you want to cool more than one beer. Putting the beer in a creek when you're camping, and find that the rushing water will cool the beer faster than still water. In the winter, stick the beer in a snowdrift.
