Step 1
Start by dressing properly. A form fitting T-shirt or sweater will help you to see how a bra looks under clothing and how well it supports you once you've found one that seems to fit well. Stay away from wearing a baggy sweatshirt, which won't help your cause at all.
-
Step 2
Go to a lingerie specialty store or to the lingerie department of a major department store and ask for a fitting. It's best to go to several places and have this done, as some employees are simply more experienced than others when it comes to measuring properly.
-
Step 3
Try on bras made by different manufacturers, in different sizes if necessary. Manufacturers differ in the sizing of their bras. A 36B might fit you in one brand, while in another a 34C might fit better. Try not to get hung up on sizes, and focus instead on finding a comfortable and supportive bra.
-
Step 4
Check the fit. Cleavage should look rounded, not flattened out toward the armpits. The center of the bra between the breasts should lie flat against chest wall. If it doesn't, it means the cup size is too small. The band should be at the same level in the back as in the front. If it's riding up in the back, it means the band size is too large.
