Place between one and four hot dogs on a paper plate. Arrange them in a square so each hot dog is along the edge of the plate.
Put a piece of waxed paper or a paper towel approximately the same size as the plate over the hot dogs to prevent splattering.

on 7/14/2006 There is really no need for either wax paper or paper towels. Just poke a small hole in each hot dog with a fork or sharp knife. Any expanding gases or liquids will escape. Besides if anything does splatter, no biggie, just wipe it off with a paper towel.

on 11/22/2005 The key to perfect hot dogs out of the microwave: roll up the hot dog in a wet paper towel and microwave for 1 minute (or less). Perfect every time.
