Tips & Warnings

  • Seven-Card Stud is one of the most popular forms of poker today. A table awaits at virtually every poker venue.
  • Your position at the table can often dictate your playing style. For instance, if you're last to play, you might try to bluff and steal the pot when appropriate. If you're first to play while holding a strong hand, you might bet small and allow players after you to drive up the stakes.
  • Seven-Card Stud requires a keen eye, as many cards are visible on the table. Making deductions based on the cards you can see is part of a winning strategy.
  • Don't walk into a casino or card house expecting to win until you've practiced the game on your own and understand it thoroughly. Experienced players at these tables look forward to relieving "live fish" of their money, and you could end up learning expensive lessons.

on 2/4/2009 To be honest I never learned how to play 7 Card Stud. Some of my old friends tell me it's the most fun Poker Game they've ever played. Hopefully later this year my business partner and myself can go to Las Vegas and get a 7 Card Poker Game on!

on 11/22/2005 Always be courteous to your fellow players. A good personality contributes to your bottom line, especially
if you're winning. People don't mind losing their money to a friendly individual. Make the appearance that you're just there to have a good time.

on 11/22/2005 When you see your pile of cash diminishing, try
moving to another seat
or simply move to another table. Track this theory. It does work. Let your pile of cash build up again, but
when that new seat goes
sour, move again.

on 11/22/2005 Never go into a poker game without bring a large amount of cash. I recommend bringing in 100 times the maximum bet. This is a great intimidation tactic. New players entering the game cannot keep their eyes off your pile of chips.

on 11/22/2005 When you feel you have a good hand from the beginning, force the action with a raise or a bigger bring-in. This
winnows out the bad hands and allows you to play heads-up with only one or two players.
