How to Find out if You Are Pregnant

Are you wondering if your extreme lethargy or tender breasts are early signs of pregnancy? While every woman's body responds differently, there are some common pregnancy symptoms.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pregnancy Tests

Step1
Calculate when your period is due. If you have a regular cycle and you keep track of it, a late period is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy.
Step2
Notice any other changes in your body. Are you extremely sleepy? Are your breasts tender? Are you moody? Though sometimes subtle, these changes can be clear indicators.
Step3
Buy a home pregnancy test at a pharmacy or grocery store, or online. Choose one with two tests per box so you can double-check your results.
Step4
Test after you miss a period, or 14 days after you think you conceived.
Step5
Read and follow the test instructions carefully. Some tell you to urinate in a cup; others say to urinate right on the test stick.
Step6
If the test is positive, make an appointment with your doctor to confirm with other tests and a physical exam.
Step7
Retest after a few days if the test is negative and you still suspect that you're pregnant.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do the test first thing in the morning, when hormone concentrations are highest.
  • Home tests claim to be 97 percent accurate. When there are mistakes, they're usually false negatives; false positives are very rare.

on 6/2/2007 I went to the doctor after realizing I was spotting and my period was late. The first doctor I visited said I was pregnant. After receiving my cycle three days later I went to the emergnecy room and the ER doctor could not determine if I was pregnant or not. Is this normal and or is it way too early for me to fully determine if I'm truly developing a baby. I'm 32 and so ready for this baby but I fear that I may have miscarried. I have not missed a full period as of yet.

on 12/19/2006 Body shape changed- I usually have my regular period, I was so wonder when I am delayed for 5 days and my breast changing and my hips getting bigger. And I have a left side pain, lower back pain etc. I am single and I dont like to get married because I dont want to be commited to somebody. The first week I decided to abort the baby but when my sister give me an advice even though she's mad at the first time I changed my decission. As my sister said Life is so beautiful and give chancce to your baby to see the light, then when I heard that I cried and wishper forgive me OH LORD... So to thus woman who have situation like me you need some one who is very close to you, to open up your problem, and I will be able to decide what is good for you.... Good Luck there and GOD Bless.... No Man is an Island.
