Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Laundry Detergents
- Crabs/ Hair Lice Treatments
- Garbage Bags
Step1
Treat the area with an insecticide solution formulated for pubic lice. You can purchase one over the counter or by prescription. Use according to the directions.
Step2
Wash in hot water all linens, bedding, towels and clothing that may have come in contact with the pubic lice. Dry them in a hot dryer.
Step3
Dry-clean infested items that cannot be machine-washed.
Step4
Put non-machine-washable quilts and blankets inside a large trash bag and seal it tightly. Leave it sealed for at least 10 days. Pubic lice can survive for only 24 to 48 hours away from the body, but nits may take longer to hatch and then die.
Step5
Inform your sexual partner and anyone who has shared any bedding or towels with you. They will need to be treated.

on 3/20/2007 This definitely works. Smear petroleum jelly all over your pubic area. Make sure you use a lot and completely encase all of the hair and skin in a thick layer of petroleum jelly. The point is to suffocate the crabs, but the bad news is that it will take 4 hours. So that you can move around, wrap your entire waist and crotch with plastic wrap. This will allow you to go about your daily activies while you wait. Once at least four hours has passed, simply take a shower and wash all of the petrolum jelly off as well as all of the dead crabs.

on 8/8/2006 I recently got crabs from a sexual partner. Upon discovery of the nasty little buggers, I immediately went to the chemist to pick up some Ascabiol lotion. You have to apply it to the entire area affected by the crabs. I applied it to all of my pubic (and anal) hair. You are supposed to leave it on for 24 hours. I left it on for about 12 hours, then took a shower to remove whatever crabs had already died, then immediately applied it for another 12 hours.
I thought this was all I had to do, but I was mistaken. There were still quite a few nits, so I decided to shave my body hair. It's been only a day now, but I think I got rid of all the little critters.
Crabs aren't that bad, they're just bloody annoying and crippled my social life for a few nights. Throughout this process I also washed my sheets and clothing in hot water, daily. This was perhaps the most annoying part of the infestation.
Best of luck to anyone trying to get rid of these little critters!

on 11/22/2005 I knew I had crabs when I went to use the washroom. I noticed tiny insects that resembled crabs. I picked a few of them off, and no symptoms showed for a couple of days. I monitored myself every single day, and after 3 days, I noticed the crabs again. I was very confused, shocked, and a tad bit frightened (they're about as big as a baby ant). This was the first time I'd had something like this. I washed myself numerous times a day, and the symptoms would stop, but would return a couple of days later. I was itching like mad! I decided I would pick off all of the nits and crabs that I could clearly see, and trim my pubic area.
After doing this, they left. They came back again. Tired of the constant inching, I shaved all of my pubic hairs off (anal hairs also). I monitored myself everyday. The itching occurred (bumps, bites, new hair growing) but it was nothing compared to when I had crabs. Since then, I haven't seen one crab.

on 11/22/2005 Make sure your partner doesn't have crabs before you have sexual relations with them.
