How to Make a Cowboy Lamp

Rope a 2-liter soda bottle and an old boot, and you can light up your favorite cowboy's or cowgirl's life. For the lampshade to this unique lamp, follow the same idea as our "How to Make a Rope-Wrapped Flower Pot" eHow.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Gather all supplies.

  2. Step 2

    Fill a 2-liter plastic soda bottle with sand.

  3. Step 3

    Attach a lamp kit to the bottle following manufacturer's instructions.

  4. Step 4

    Cut a 16-inch section from the bottom of an old pair of denim jeans.

  5. Step 5

    Put the bottle in the cut-off pants leg. Fold the top of the pants leg inside the top of the bottle and tie with a piece of small rope.

  6. Step 6

    Cut a small "X" in the sole of an old boot.

  7. Step 7

    Place the denim-covered bottle lamp inside the boot.

  8. Step 8

    Feed the electric cord through the "X."

  9. Step 9

    Cover an old or new lampshade with rope using the same style as "How to Make a Rope-Wrapped Flower Pot." (See Related eHows.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Decorate the denim-covered lamp with a bandanna.
  • The lampshade can be covered with anything - old black-and-white photos, cowboy poems, even some little cowpoke drawings.
  • Follow the lamp kit's manufacturer's instructions on materials and light-bulb wattage to use in order to prevent fire or electrical shock.

on 11/22/2005 Fill the bottom of the boot with sand in the toe area. Then fill with plaster of paris from the hardware store. Paint the top.
