The outside corners of drywall can be damaged easily. Installing a corner bead will prevent the edges from crumbling and help make a smooth seam. Install corner beads after you hang all the drywall and before you tape the joints.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Wrap corner bead around corner of drywall.
Step2
Level corner bead by placing a long carpenter's level against bead and moving bead toward you to level.
Step3
Nail in place. Space nails every 6 inches. Be sure nail hits wood frame.

on 11/22/2005 Use roofing nails for corner beads. Dry wall screws might cause the bead to lift off the wall. Avoid plastic cornerbeads.
