How to Make a Black & Blue Smoothie

Blackberries and blueberries make up the "black and blue" in this refreshing smoothie, which is perfect on a warm summer day and packed with vitamin C. Serves one.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 medium ripe bananas
  • 1/4 c. raspberry or strawberry sherbet
  • 1/4 c. fresh blackberries
  • blenders
  • 1/4 c. fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 c. apple juices
  • drinking glasses
  • 1/4 c. fresh blueberries

  • 1/4 c. fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 c. raspberry or strawberry sherbet
  • 1 medium ripe bananas
  • 1/2 c. apple juices
  • Blenders
  1. Step 1

    Combine blueberries, blackberries, banana, apple juice and sherbet in a blender.

  2. Step 2

    Cover and blend until smooth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Freeze the banana and berries for a frostier drink. Bananas can be frozen for up to three months.
  • Is the drink too sweet? Add lemonade or a small spoonful of lemon juice.
  • Add 1 tbsp. blackstrap molasses for extra iron.
  • Add 1 tbsp. brewer's yeast to boost protein content.
  • Add 1 tbsp. flaxseed oil for a dose of omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Add 1 tsp. bee pollen to increase amino acids.
  • Some people are allergic to bee pollen or other suggested add-ins.
  • Follow the directions on the package carefully or consult your doctor if you have questions.

on 11/22/2005 For lower fat and calories, use frozen fruits and skim milk. If your fruit is not frozen, use ice cubes in the blender. I also use sweetener if it needs it. Taste first!!!
