    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Onion Mesh Bags
    • Dip Or Fish Nets With Long Handle
    • Pail
    • Raw Chicken Or Chicken Necks
    • Scissors
    • Crabbing Gloves
    • Boating Ropes Or Fish Line
    • Fishing Weights
    • Lead Weights
    • Rulers Or Measuring Stick
      • 1

Tie fishing weights to an onion mesh bag. You can also use large weights that won't fall out.

      • 2

Place raw chicken in bag with weights. Chicken necks are especially good.

      • 3

Attach long fishing rope or line to bag.

      • 4

Drop bag in water from dock or pier, holding on to the line.

      • 5

Wait a while or until you feel tugs. Crab claws get caught in mesh.

      • 6

Pull the bag from the water.

      • 7

Hold the bag over an empty pail.

      • 8

Snip the bag with scissors to release crabs into the pail.

      • 9

Measure crabs and throw back any undersized crabs.

      • 10

Retrieve your fishing weights to use again.

      • 11

Dispose of the mesh bag in a trashcan.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Learn and obey state and local laws regarding licenses, crabbing season, times to crab, limits to the number of crabs taken, and crab-size restrictions.

Just put your hand under a rock, pull them out and hold them by the shell directly above the claws, they cant pinch you if you hold them properly

Tie a chicken neck or other meat to a strong string. Drop the line in the water, making sure the chicken neck hits bottom. Tie the other end to your boat or dock. When the line moves, pull up slowly and net the crab.

You can also use cans of dog food with holes punched in the can for bait to catch crabs. A screwdriver works well as a punch.
