How to Make Tortillas

Make delicious flour tortillas by following this recipe which was contributed to eHow by one of our younger visitors!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Small Pan

Step1
Go to your local supermarket and get everything you need.
Step2
Make sure you have a pan that is large enough to accommodate the size of tortillas you want.
Step3
Mix all of the dry ingredients and then add the water.
Step4
Knead the ingredients until they form a large ball of dough.
Step5
Separate a small chunk of the dough.
Step6
Roll out the dough using a rolling pin until it becomes a smooth and thin patty anywhere from 6"-10" wide in diameter.
Step7
Lightly grease the pan and pre-heat over medium heat.
Step8
Place the patty in the pan and cook until golden brown on one side.
Step9
Flip the tortilla and cook the other side until golden brown.
Step10
Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • Use hot water for better tortillas.
  • Too much shortening will make the tortillas flaky.
