Take a pumpkin and add a saucy chapeau made from a large leaf or bright lips made from rose petals. It will create just as much of a sensation as if you'd spent an hour or more carving and cleaning up.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Select a fresh pumpkin of any size or shape.

  2. Step 2

Gather interesting flowers, leaves, berries, pods, petals, cones and vines from around your garden. Some flowers that work well are blue lobelia, roses, cosmos, marigolds and late-season cannas.

  3. Step 3

Use peanut butter to "glue" the features to your pumpkin.

  4. Step 4

Paste white rose petals directly to the pumpkin skin for the eyes. Use red berries dipped in peanut butter for the eyeballs.

  5. Step 5

Dip the tip end of marigold petals into the peanut butter glue. These will be the teeth.

  6. Step 6

Spread peanut butter on the back of red rose or pink cosmos petals for the lips.

  7. Step 7

Dip a seedpod into the peanut butter glue, and attach in the proper place for the nose.

  8. Step 8

Tie sections of vines to the stem end of the pumpkin with raffia to represent hair.

  9. Step 9

Fold a large leaf in half to make a silly cap, and attach with toothpicks.

Tips & Warnings
  • This technique works well for miniature pumpkins, too.
  • Heavier objects can be attached to the pumpkin using toothpicks or a hot glue gun.
