How to Make a Rope-Wrapped Flowerpot

Turn an ordinary clay flowerpot into a rustic or elegant flower vase with a little glue and rope or cording.

    Things You'll Need

    • Clay Flowerpots
    • Cording
    • Glue Guns
    • Hot Glue Sticks
    • Old Flower Vases
    • Butter Bowls
    • Quart Jars
    • 3/8-inch Or Less Ropes
    • Quart jars
      • 1

        Start at base of pot.

      • 2

        Lay a thin stream of hot glue around pot.

      • 3

        Press rope or cord firmly into glue.

      • 4

        Continue working around the pot until you reach the top.

      • 5

        Glue cord on upper rim of pot and one row inside of pot to add a finished touch.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Glue on decorations such as silk flowers or beads.

    • You can mix and match colors and textures of cord following the same steps as above.

    • This is a fun craft for kids using Tacky Glue in place of hot glue.

    • You can wrap odd jars, old flower vases that need a new look, butter bowls and anything else you can glue rope or cord to.

    • Hot glue can burn your skin.
